The Moment Everything Changed
4 min read
Birth & Beyond
When my first born was brought into this world, my worldly view changed. I thought differently, acted differently — essentially, I was a different person altogether. The feelings of negativity I had carried through my pregnancy morphed into something else entirely.
LOVE
Instant, overwhelming, and unlike anything I had ever felt before.
EMBRACE
A full acceptance of this new life, this new identity, this new me.
GRATITUDE
For her. For making it. For the person she was already turning me into.
From that moment on, I became a dedicated mother tending to her newborn. The woman who had been disappointed, devastated, and unsure was still there — but she had been joined by someone new. Someone softer. Someone who would do absolutely anything.
“The negativity I had carried for months — all of it — morphed into love the moment she arrived.”
The Beautiful, Brutal Reality of Newborn Life
Now. Let me be honest with you — because that’s what this blog is for.
Although the feelings I felt were comforting and full, there were moments where I felt absolutely murderous because the baby could not stop crying. I say that with love. Deep, exhausted, slightly unhinged love. 😅
The sleepless nights were unkind. I would only sleep for 2 hours in a full 24-hour day because my little one did not understand the concept of sleep patterns. She slept during the day — peacefully, beautifully, without a care in the world — and stayed wide awake during the nighttime. And after a few months of trying everything, I gave up completely trying to get her into a routine. I surrendered. I followed her lead. I let go of the plan.
“I gave up trying to get her into a sleep routine. And somehow, that was the most peaceful decision I made.”
The Thing That Kept Me Going
Through every sleepless night, every endless cry, every moment of absolute delirium — there was one constant. Whenever we were together, just the two of us, I always felt a sense of relief and peace. A stillness that didn’t exist anywhere else.
That’s the part nobody can fully explain to you before you become a mother. The way that same tiny person who kept you awake all night can be the only thing that makes you feel okay in the morning. The contradiction of it. The beauty of it.
She changed everything. And I wouldn’t change a single thing about that.

Did your little one flip your world too? 🌸
Tell me your newborn story in the comments — the beautiful parts and the sleepless ones. All of it is welcome here.
